CLIENT: Miggs, a San Francisco-based rock band. I provided written PR materials in support of their press kit to promote their first CD release.

CHALLENGE: To introduce a new Bay Area band to both the music and local marketplace by capturing attention to create visibility with the press.

STRATEGY: A bio (right) was written as part of a press kit, but could work for the website about page, as an introduction to the band. It called attention to their key players and ties to San Francisco. Their musical influences were detailed in order to paint the picture of their unique sound for distinct positioning.

Then I tapped into my journalism past to conceive a Q&A (below right). I designed answers from both a media training perspective and their own brand voice so that it was authentic to who they are. This tool provided media with material to quickly write up a piece and for media training for the band.

I positioned the brand as committed, passionate about music and the band, and accessible throughout the brand voice.

RESULTS: Both the Q&A and the biography sheet helped secure interviews and media coverage in the San Francisco Examiner (see below) and Billboard magazine.
